Brendan Kennelly receives the Irish PEN Award for Contribution to Irish Literature

Brendan Kennelly has been announced as the 2010 recipient of the Irish PEN Award for Contribution to Irish Literature.

As a poet, cultural commentator, dramatist, novelist and Professor of Modern Literature at Trinity College Dublin, Kennelly's career spans over 40 years and he has published over 30 works of poetry. The Book of Judas (1991) was a No.1 bestseller in Ireland. 

The prize-giving ceremony took place at The Irish Pen Annual Dinner on Friday 29 January 2010 at The Royal St George Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
