Launch of POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE
On 9 November 2011, Ireland Literature Exchange celebrated the release of POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE, eight postcards featuring black and white photographs of some of Ireland's leading writers, situated in their places of work in Ireland. We marked the launch of this striking initiative in the Trinity College Long Room Hub, a new space dedicated to creative and exciting ideas and projects.
Mr Jimmy Deenihan, TD, Minister for the Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht, launched the project and the writer Anne Enright (who is also a member of the board of ILE) gave a magnificent and thought-provoking speech on how, with the help of organisations such as ILE, the international profile of contemporary Irish writers has changed and improved.
